Track System Types

H-Type (Halo)

Most common in residential. Widely available heads. Three electrical contacts.

J-Type (Juno)

Similar to H but not interchangeable. Check compatibility with heads.

L-Type (Lightolier)

Three-circuit option available. Professional grade. More expensive.

Monorail/Cable

Curved, architectural shapes possible. Modern aesthetic. Pendant and spot options.

Track Head Styles

  • Spot/Accent: Focused beam for artwork and features. Adjustable aim.
  • Flood: Wider beam for general illumination. Less focused.
  • Pendant: Decorative shade hanging from track. Ambient light.
  • Gimbal: Deep-set LED with minimal glare. Modern, clean look.
  • Linear: Bar-shaped heads for wall washing.

Installation Options

  • Existing ceiling box: Adapter connects track to standard junction box.
  • Floating canopy: Direct wire to ceiling anywhere along track.
  • Plug-in kit: Cord and plug for renters. No electrical work.
  • Configurations: Straight, L-shaped, T-shaped, or custom.
  • Track length: 2ft, 4ft, 8ft sections. Connectors for longer runs.

Pro Tips

  • Match the system: Heads must match track type. H, J, L not interchangeable.
  • Calculate load: Track has maximum wattage. Don't overload with heads.
  • Parallel to wall: For wall washing, install track 2-3 feet from wall.
