Fine-Tuning Checklist
Aim Adjustable Fixtures
Reposition track heads and gimbal recessed lights. Light should hit intended targets, not walls.
Adjust Pendant Heights
Hang at correct height above tables and counters. Add or remove chain links as needed.
Level All Fixtures
Chandeliers and pendants should hang perfectly level. Adjust canopy or stem as needed.
Center Over Furniture
Dining fixture over table center, not room center. Bed fixture centered over bed.
Scene Optimization
- Live with scenes: Use them for a week, note what feels off.
- Adjust levels: Fine-tune brightness percentages in each scene.
- Add transition time: Smooth fades (1-2 seconds) feel more luxurious.
- Create new scenes: You'll discover needs you didn't anticipate.
- Delete unused: Remove scenes that didn't work out. Keep it simple.
Dimmer Adjustments
- Low-end trim: Adjust so lights don't flicker at minimum.
- High-end trim: Some dimmers let you cap maximum brightness.
- Preset levels: Set a favorite brightness that recalls with double-tap.
- Fade rate: Adjust how quickly lights dim on/off.
- LED indicator: Turn off or dim the locator LED if it's distracting at night.
Pro Tips
- •Take your time: Live with the lighting for a week before making big changes.
- •Different times: Check lighting at morning, afternoon, and night.
- •Get input: Ask family members what's working and what's not.
- •Photography test: Take photos of rooms. Camera reveals what eyes adapt to.
